1872 (May 1): Double rate Entire letter from Colmar to Paris, bearing a combination franking of two single examples of Germany Small Shield 2 gr. blue (Mi 5) in combination with France Cérès 16 c. bistre and 25 c. blue type I (Yvert 59+60A). The German Imperial adhesive was tied by Fer de Cheval / Hufeisenstp. "COLMAR 1 MAI 72" datestamp, the French adhesive by "PARIS ÉTRANGER 3 MAI 72" cds in blue. A most attractive entire, the splendid franking paying correctly the double rate on the German and the French side.
