Corinphila Auction 291-297 Day 4

1857 (Jan. 17): Entire letter from the Swedish & Norwegian Consul in Bahia (large cachet in black on reverse), mailed to Stockholm, Sweden endorsed "via England pr. Steamer Avon", struck on despatch by "BAHIA" British P.O. cds in blue. London transit in red (Feb. 14) where rated at "1/2 d." in manuscript and thence via Danish P.O. in Hamburg (Feb. 16) to Stockholm where rated '17' skilling to pay. A rare entire to a most unusual destination.
