Airship 'R34' Transatlantic flight 1919 (July 9): WAR DEPARTMENT envelope with enclosed letter sent by 'Lieut. Thornton T. Perry - Hazelhurst Field Mineola, LI-NY USA' with airship 'R34' back to England, endorsed 'Via Air R-34 Special' in manuscript, franked with 5 c. tied by "Hemstead N.Y. Jul 9" duplex postmarks, "London R 34. 13 JY 19" special arrival postmark to "Lincoln 14 JY 19". Included typewritten letter, headed HEADQUARTERS HAZELHURST FIELD Long Island, N.Y., in very fine condition. The return journey 10 to 13 July took 75 hours, only very few mail carried on board.
