Corinphila Auction 291-297 Day 3

1854/55: India 4 a. blue & red, Head Die III, Frame Die I (Gi 21a), two cut to shape examples used on 1856 entire letter from Pondichery (Aug 11) to Singapore (addressed to the Captain of the French ship "Rose Marie Louise") endorsed "per steamer via Madras", tied by "C / 111" obliterators in black, with "Madras / GPO" transit in red at left and curved "INDIA PAID" with manuscript "6d." inserted in red ink for credit to British P.O. Carried on the "Nubia" to Galle and thence on the "Bentinck" to Singapore (Sept 19). Imperfections but rare.
