1851/60: 3 d. dull red on blued, a bisected example used with superb 6 d. olive-yellow on blued, tied to 1858 cover endorsed "By Steamer via Halifax NS" to London (Miss Smith correspondence) by oval grill obliterators in black with "ST. JOHNS / PAID" despatch at left (Aug 23) in red, carried on the Cunard steamer 'Niagara' (landed Liverpool, Saturday Sept 4) and "London / Paid" arrival cds (Sept 6) in red alongside. Further "St. John's" despatch on reverse of a fine and rare cover. Signed A. Diena.
