1892 (12 Jan) envelope to Libreville, Gabon, bearing France Peace & Commerce 25c, cancelled with a fine strike of the 'LOANGO A MARSEILLES/L.M. No 3' octagonal d/stamp. (Salles 1254) in red with a further strike at left, redirected to Marseilles though sent in a vessel going in the wrong direction and showing a good strike of the 'MISSENT/TO CAPE TOWN' h/stamp. (Type SP 2) partially over-cancelled with Le Havre c.d.s. (26.5), the reverse with Las Palmas (12.1), Funchal (17.2) & part Marseilles (28.5) d/stamps. A rare & most unusual item.
