Lebanon, British forwarder agent (probably). Small letter written in Beirut on 4 October 1858 from a missionary that simply signed itself Lorenzo "Lorenzo". Sent to J. Lyons in Montrose Pa. via Boston.Entrusted to hands of a courier who transported her to Boston on behalf of J.M. Gordon forwarder who, on the back, affixed her red seal "J.M. Gordon, Treasurer A.B.C.F.M. Boston" to delivered to post office of Boston on 3 November 1858. Within, among other things a request for goose feathers to make pillows for the children of the institute, but also a very interesting observations and considerations on the comet Donati, visible in the sky and the reactions of the local population. This astronomical observation notes sent from Beirut in 1800s is to date the only recorded appeared on the market. Piece of great scientific-historical interest as well as postal-historical. UNIQUE.
