Syria Ottoman. Unfranked envelope with very small defect, written in Tarsous by "Haggiar & Balite" company, entrusted to the forwarder Joseph Ayoub of Mersina (oval Greyish green seal on the back) that inserted the envelope in the maritime box (BM) on the pier after the departure of the French paquebot. It was therefore withdrawn from the Mersina French post office that before resend it provided to applied its postmark on 13/June/1881 and the “BM” seal. Arrived in Alexandretta the day after the envelope was transferred from the French postal channel to the Ottoman one, which transported it to Aleppo where was applied the taxation for the double of deficiency through four copies of 20 paras green postage stamps (Michel n 28) cancelled on 19/June/1881. Scarce use in the UPU period of private forwarder service from Mersine and scarce taxation in Aleppo using normal postage stamps. RARE
