1894, 16 Dec. mourning cover franked with France 10c and 15c Sage type tied by French Ship Mail cds "LIGNE T / PAQ.FR Nr. 4 - 16 Dec. 1894" from the packet VILLE DE LA CIOTAT then transferred to its sistership, the ARMAND BEHIC on 18 December where it received the postmark " LIGNE T / PAQ.FR Nr. 1 - 18 DEC 94 " (inverted lettering of the month DEC !) which left Mahé (Seychelles) on the 18th on a transit route through Aden, Suez and arriving Marseille on 1 January 1895. The Armand Behic was the ship on which the famous Impressionist artist PAUL GAUGUIN finally returned to France in 1893 carrying in his baggage some of the most famous paintings of art history.
