1941/1949 ca., 5s claret, 10s dull purple and 1£ bluish slate CORONATION ROBES, remarkable collection presenting the high denomination definitives used on ca.25 covers. Included are many attractive and valuable items. First of all, with a high degree of certainty based on comparative material, an exceptionally rare usage of 1£ bluish slate on thin paper (SG 178a) together with 1s6d 'hermes & globe' on large part of a registered envelope from Collins St.Victoria, 1.OC.49 (slightly indistinct date), addressed to Hannover in Germany, bearing german customs labels and arrival mark Hannover (19.10.49) on reverse. The 1£ stamp with almost negligible imperfections (perforation) in overall fine condition. Very rare usage of a stamp, which was only issued in April 1949 and early replaced by 1£ 'Coat of Arms' in November 1949. Further included are various franking combinations of 5s claret, i.a. single on reg. airmail cover from Rialto to Switzerland; plenty of censored covers WWII to Europe or USA; 5s and 2 x 5d 'merino' on 'Food Parcel' address to England; 3 x 5s + 2 x 2s kangaroo + 2 x 4d koala on large size envelope to Boston USA; 10s + 1s6d 'hermes' + 4d koala on airmail cover to New York; combinations with 5s + 10s together with other stamps on airmail covers to USA; preprinted envelopes addressed to the Red Cross Commitee in Geneva Switzerland and many other interesting items.
