BINCHE, 1801/1850 ca., specialized and very detailed collection comprising the prephilatelic cancels of Binche - presented chronologically with more than 220 covers. The collection starts in the french era with single line "BINCHE", department "86 BINCHE" and port paye "P 86 P / BINCHE", followed by dutch occupation with double-line "P P BINCH" and double-line "BINCH FRANCO", each in black or red and various single line types "BINCH" in black or red One year prior to the constitution of Belgium in 1830, the first datestamp BINCH in red was introduced in the year 1829, followed by double-circle types in the 1830/40s. Furthermore handstamps from neighbouring villages "FONTAINE LE VEQUE" resp. "FAYT." manuscript or thimble type are included, also additional postmarks like boxed "SR" for registration, "APRES LE DEPART" for late delivery, postman markings with large letter "A....Z" in circle and many other interesting cancellations. Along with the "BINCH" postmarks some letters with historical background from former mayors and other persons of contemporary history are completing this great collection, probably and according to our knowledge originating from the most extensive collection prephilatelic cancels of this area.
