1874, cherry blossoms 2 Sen, syllabic i = plate 1 on VERY RARE THIN NATIVE WOVE PAPER, unused with original gum. The very fresh stamp has only a few trivial imperfections and is otherwise in fine condition. This major japan rarity on native paper exists on native wove paper and on native laid paper, the wove paper version is by far the rarest, it is priced it the Ichida handbook at 43% more than on laid paper. The Woodward handbook mentions on page 257 that "ONLY THREE UNUSED COPIES ARE KNOWN TO BE IN EXISTENCE" on wove native paper.
Provenance: Woodward collection (sold at Harmers auctions London 1939) and King Carol of Romania collection. Michel 20y plate 1 = 46.000€ + 43% premium (according to Ichida) for wove paper = 65.780€. Certificates Krüger BPP (1984): mentioning the good quality, states "diese Marke ist ungestempelt eine der größten Japanraritäten" and certificate Florian Eichhorn BPP (2019).
