1875/1876 Two covers from Montevideo to Italy with Italian postage due stamps, both originally franked by 1866 10c. green, London printing, the 1875 cover cancelled by oval of bars, carried by British mail via London to S.Pier d'Alena, Genoa and getting Italian postage dues 1l. and 40c. vertical pair, the 1876 cover tied by Montevideo cds, carried by French mail (with octagonal "MONTEVIDEO PAQ. FR. J. No.6/29/MAI/76" d/s), and sent to Dego via Torino getting postage dues 1l. and 40c. One of the Uruguay stamps with scissors cut at top and foot otherwise fine. A SCARCE AND MOST ATTRACTIVE PAIR OF COVERS.
