1902 King Edward VII, 1d black ECKERLIN DIE PROOF ESSAYS (with 3x GB 1d and 2x Imperial Russia 7 Kop Romanov) printed in 1924 on ungummed UNWATERMARKED yellowish paper as sample in the hope of selling Dr. Eckerlin's rotary press process for intaglio printing (developed by Herbst & Illig in Germany) to the British Post. Very fine. A VERY RARE TWO COUNTRY ESSAY SPECIALLY IN THE UNWATERMARKED VERSION ON YELLOWISH PAPER.
