1900: TWO VERY FINE COVERS with US postage due stamps overprinted "PUERTO RICO": 1) "Board of charities of Puerto Rico San Juan" unfranked local cover (May 5 1900) with 2 cents postage due stamp with 36 degree Angle overprint (Scott J2). 2) "Board of charities of Puerto Rico" enveloppe sent unfranked from „ADJUNTAS 5 MAY 1900“ to San Juan with a pair of 2c postage due stamps both with 25 degree Angle overprint (Scott J2a). These postage due stamps on cover are extremely rare, even the major collections of Puerto Rico didn’t include any (for example Tows, Gallagher, Rudmam, Acevedo), the Philatelic Foundation has only certified one on postcard and a Siegel power search revealed none. PROBABLY A UNIQUE SET OF COVERS SHOWING BOTH TYPES OF OVERPRINT.
