1862 THE UNIQUE "ESCUDITO" 15c. TÊTE-BÊCHE PAIR USED:
15c. blue block of four, pos. 8-9/15-16 with the INVERTED CLICHÉ at pos. 8, used on piece and tied by pen strokes, with pos. 22, 29, 36-37 and 43-44 of the original multiple rejointed by hinge together and to the block, also cancelled by the pen strokes, with some horizontal creasing in the upper pair which has caused some rubbing, a tear at top of pos. 9 and also small stain at left of the block, but fresh color, complete to large margins, and the block containing the tête-bêche pair is still affixed to its piece. THE ONLY USED TÊTE-BÊCHE PAIR, two other tête-bêche are known but unused. Signed P. Holcombe (his orig. 1991 certificate was lost). Variedad TETE-BECHE en bloque de cuatro (Posiciones 8-9/15-16). Inicialmente se trataba de un bloque irregular de 10 o más ejemplares y se ha ido reconstruyendo a medida que han ido apareciendo. Primero se añadieron dos sellos, posiciones 22 y 29, posteriormente, y despúes de la subasta realizada en Nueva York de la colección Alemany, donde fue vendido, se añandió el bloque de cuatro que también coincide perfectamente con el resto (posiciones 36-37/42-43). Inutilizado con trazos verticales de tinta. UNICO BLOQUE CONOCIDO EN USADO Y UNA DE LAS PIEZAS MAS IMPORTANTES DE LA FILATELIA ARGENTINA. Ex Del Mazo, Schatzkes, Hubbard v Alemany.
