1914: New Zealand occupation of Samoa, 50 Pfg with DOUBLE SURCHARGE "G.R.I 6d" (the middle stamp of the three example on piece). The stamps were overprinted with a vertical setting of 10 types. On 10 stamps a double surcharge happened by error. Our example shows the UNIQUE SETTING VARIETY "DOT AT RIGHT OF "R" FLATTENED AT BOTTOM". Very fine tied by "APIA 12.9.14" cds on piece. Certificate Pascal Scheller. Included is also an article by M.P Brazel about this double surcharge published in the Americain Philatelist June 1992. SG 108a, Gibbs 8b (9 example possible), Michel 8 DD.
