1877, 50 C black on cover via New York to Schombach (Germany) with framed German seapost cancellation "AUS WESTINDIEN, ÜBER NEW YORK" (engl. FROM WEST INDIA, VIA NEW YORK), cds "NEW YORK, JAN 27" and different tax marks. This letter taxed with postage due because at that time Cuba was not a member of the UPU and the usage of a Cuban stamp outside the country was not accepted. On the back of the envelope German arrival postmark "SCHÖNBACH, BEI LÖBAU IN SACHSEN, 11 2 77". Certification Eichele: "A rare cover of the Central America Line of the North German Lloyd.". Pure Cuban postal history.
