1854, incoming cover from Triest/Austria: 9kr. blue, fresh colour and full to large margins, single franking on cover (removed seal on reverse) from "TRIEST 14/6" addressed to "Graf Alphons Wimpffen k.k. Hauptmann im Generalquartiermeisterstab in Bukarest" with arrival mark "K.K.FELDPOSTAMT No.I 22/6".
Duke Alphons Wimpffen was a career officer, serving in the General Staff from 1854-1857, and died 1866 at the age of 38 due to a severe wounding which he had received in a battle in the Prusso-Austrian War.
