Velvet Collectables Group

Velvet Collectables Group is a wholly Australian Owned Company that evolved as a separate entity from the famous firms of Stanley Gibbons Australia (1974-2007) and Mowbrays Australia (2007-2010).

Danny Jurd, the Director and Auctioneer of Velvet Collectables Group Pty Ltd, was employed as a Valuer and Auctioneer by Stanley Gibbons Australia in 1997. In 2001 Danny assumed Management of the Sydney Office, then from 2008 State Management of Mowbrays Australia until he purchased the company in 2010.

Under Danny Jurd's management, and, with the combined talents of an experienced team, Stanley Gibbons Australia and Mowbrays Australia racked up an impressive series of achievements including:

• APTA Auction House of the Year 2004, 2005 and 2006.
• Record Gross for an Australian Philatelic Auction as Official Auctioneer for Pacific Explorer International Exhibition April 2005 - $1.6million.
• Record realization for an individual item at Auction: March 2009 Lot 447 Siege of Paris cover on sent to Sydney - $190,800
• and so on.

The "team" of Danny Jurd, Ivan Knox, Kerry McLoughlin, Duncan Manins and our Canberra Rep, : John Collette, that assembled this impressive pedigree remains constant to this day, with combined experience in the stamp trade that easily exceeds 160 years! This wealth of experience, of course, means there is not much we haven't seen or sold at least once!
