A rare gold medal. Private issuing. Maimonides, the 5th of Iyar 1948. A relief of Maimonides (Rabbi Moshe Ben Maimon) on the obverse side of the medal with a Hebrew inscription of Rambam and English inscription of Maimonides, 1204-1135 (the dates of his birth and death). On the reverse side of the medal, illustrations of the 12 tribes, the leaves of the Menorah (most likely taken from the emblem of Israel) and a Hebrew and English inscription the 5th of Iyar, May 14 1948 - rare.
Diameter: 35mm. Gold 900. 16.05gr.
Condition: Good. Slight rubbings.

מדליית זהב נדירה בהוצאה פרטית, הרמב"ם, ה' באייר תש"ח ישראל, דיוקנו של הרמב"ם (ר' משה בן מימון) מובלט בחזית המדליה עם כיתוב רמב"ם בעברית ומיימונידס באנגלית (כנהוג באירופה) 1135 - 1204 (תאריך הלידה ופטירתו), בגבה מובלט איורים של 12 השבטים, עלי המנורה (לקוח ככל הנראה מסמל מדינת ישראל) וכיתוב בעברית ובאנגלית ישראל ה' באייר תש"ח, 14 למאי 1948 - נדיר
מצב: טוב, שפשופים קלים. גודל סוג ומשקל: קוטר 35 מ"מ, זהב 900, 16.05 גרם.
