1885: De La Rue Essay for proposed 10 s. value to replace the 'St. George & Dragon' Fiscal high values, entirely hand-drawn and painted in pencil and shades of green ink, highlighted with Chinese white on brown tracing paper (37 x 43 mm.) with perforaations in pencil. The Essay endorsed "M" at top left. Illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP on page 6245. Chalons 1857/69: 2 d. slate-green and 4 d. blue, imperforate, wmk. numerals, fine examples with just shaved to large margins, used on 1863 cover to Melbourne tied by mute obliterator of Melbourne in black and by circular "GENERAL POST OFFICE / HOBART TOWN / ♚" datestamp in red (Jan 19). Sideface 1878: 1 d. rose-carmine, perf. 14, a used example on hand-illustrated envelope with large baby leaping from a steaming pan, the stamp surrounded by a book, addressed to F.A. Packer at the House of Assembly, tied by "Hobart / Tasmania" duplex (21 Sept 1882) in black with arrival of same day on reverse. The addressee F.A. Packer was the great uncle of Sir Frank Packer of Consolidated Press and great, great uncle of Kerry Packer.
