 Lot 1121 - europe russian levant - Corinphila Auction AG Auction 210-2121869 (Jan 22): Entire letter written in Italian from Alexandretta to Aleppo, manuscript '1' in crayon at right, handstamped on arrival with two line POSTE - RUSSE / d'ALEP in blue (Tchilinghirian fig. 205). It is interesting to note the similarity of this marking with that of the French Post Office in Aleppo at the same time. The exceptional strike of this marking on a fine entire in excellent quality. Reverse with oval ROPIT / CONSTANTINOPLE datestamps in black (Oct 14) and 'Odessa' cds (Oct 16) alongside 'New York / Paid All' arrival duplex (Nov 14).
