Double Heads 1910/13: Prepared for use but unissued, £ 1 scarlet & reddish-mauve, perf. 14, an unused block of four, of perfect centering and immaculate vibrant distinct colour (in the colour of the issued 10 d. value) and superb large part og. with the lower pair unmounted og. Just two blocks of four were recorded by Richard Ashton (Gawaine Baillie sale, lot 638) with just the two sheets of fifty of this error printed. An extremely rare pair in the foremost quality and much finer than the 'Montgomery' pair (Spink, Dec 2002, lot 462) which was described as unique. Cert.
