1859 (March 10): Entire letter from Bogotá to New York prepaid to the border with oval BOGOTÁ / FRANCA and rate marks '40' (centavos) in blue on front and further rate mark '50' (centavos) on reverse; circular ADMINISTRACION DE CORREOS DE COLON / FRANCA in red and oval "FORWARDED BY / RAMON LEON SANCHEZ / CARTAGENA N.G." in orange-red; thereafter carried outside the mails to destination ((April 25). Rare and fine entire.

Incoming Mail 1907: Cover from Oslo to ship "S.S. Fornebo" at Colon, Panama franked by Norway Posthorn 20 ö. blue tied by Kristiania machine cancel (Dec 31). Reverse with "Agencia Postal / Colon" cds (Jan 21, 1908) in violet, ship had sailed and struck on obverse with scarce "NON RECLAMADA" and "REBUT / COLON, / REP. DE PANAMA" cachets in violet. 1846/1935: Somewhat diverse selection of covers/cards (14) with 1849 cover with British P.O: PANAMA cds in black showing dated slug "46" inverted and full Consular seal in red; 1850 entire from Chile to San Francisco with oval "FORWARDED BY / SMITH & LEWIS / PANAMA" in black; 18986 Colombia 2 c. card with "New York / Panama Transit" duplex; 1892 2 c. card used from Colon to Jamaica; 1892 2 c. card used from Colon to St. Thomas; 1925 surcharged registered envelope (H&G C2) up-rated and used from Bocos del Toro to USA; 1926 1 c. card (H&G 12) cancelled by scarce "ALTO LINO" duplex in blue; 1929 registered first flight covers (H&G C3) up-rated to Peru (2), one with 10 c. Airmail with double surcharge (Scott C4a); and first flight cover to Ecuador and two 1935/37 1 c. stationery (with Marlin) Radio cards etc. A generally fine lot. Ex the Brian Moorhouse estate.
