1932 DO-X flown cover from St. John's to Germany franked by pair and single of 1931 airmail stamp 50c. green (instead of the special 'Trans-Atlantik' stamp), all tied "ST. JOHN'S/MAY 19/1932", with airmail confirmation cachets of Berlin and Chemnitz on face, respective transit and arrival datestamps on the reverse. Envelope lightly toned (partially), still fine. A VERY RARE FRANKING of 'normal' air stamps instead of the special stamp - only few covers with such a franking known.

1919 Air "Trans-Atlantic/AIR POST/1919/ONE DOLLAR" on 15c. bright scarlet used on flown cover to Manchester, England by Kerr & Brackley using a Handley Page Plane, tied by "ST. JOHN'S/JUN 9/1919" datestamp, with "HARBOUR GRACE/AM/JU 14/19" c.d.s. alongside (were supplementary mail was put aboard), and on the reverse noted in m/s 'Arrived at No 14 Sunday / Handley Page Mail / Via Parrsboro' (start of the new attempt after the crash on July 4th).

Aeroporto Orbetello in Italia, cancelled by pale rectangular "POST OFFICE/NEWFOUNDLAND/JUL 28 1933/CLARENVILLE", and below signed "Stefano Cagna" co-pilot of I-BALBO seaplane, and on the reverse noted 'with Capitano Leonello Leone (on board) R.N. "Alice", and Orbetello '12.8.33' arrival c.d.s. The cover with a light vertical fold at left, still fine. A SCARCE BALBO FLIGHT COVER.

JOHN'S NFLD./JUN 9/5-PM/1919" machine datestamp, Harbour Grace '14 June 1919' c.d.s. alongside, no receiver as usual. The stamp has been cut off and accurately repositioned and a central vertical cover fold otherwise fine. R. Gratton AIEP certificate.

1919-1947 Specialized collection of 23 airmail covers plus 20 photographs, pictures, letters and documents, starting with 1919 $1 on 15c on cover to England, 1921 cover handstamped "AIR POST FOGO", four different 1921 Halifax stamps (wide/narrow space in AIR MAIL, with/without stop) on four covers, 1930 cover from St. John's to London flown by the "Columbia" and with London receiver, covers bearing 1931 AIR stamps up to $1, two covers franked by 1932 DO-X stamps, and others, including a lot of interesting details, addressees etc., accompanied by scarce photographs like picture of the Sopwith and Martinsyde aviators in front of Cochrane Hotel (Mackenzie-Grieve, Raynham, Hawker, Morgan), original picture showing Governor Harris talking to Hawker and Mackenzie-Grieve just before departure May 18., orig. picture of the "Atlantic" on the deck of the U.S.S. Lake Charlotteville arriving in Falmouth, and others, important letters like from 'Fred' to 'Harry' dated St. John's May 11th describing two covers with a "special aerial stamp issued by the Newfoundland Gov.", also four postcards of the Handley-Page after crash/under repair in Parrsboro, and others more. JOHN'S, N'FLD./MAY 20/10-AM/1927" machine datestamp, with circled "TREPASSEY NEWF'D/MY 21/27" transit datestamp on front, and Rome '22.VI.1927' slogan d/s on the reverse. The letter reads '... the Italian air ship leaving in a day or two is taking 30 (pounds) mail matter...'. The stamp has been used with few white paper fibres on left, and with a short 1.5mm tear there, otherwise fine. An interesting cover & letter from this RARE FLIGHT. (SG about £20,000)

1930 'American Consular Service' envelope carried by J. Erroll Boyd from Montreal, sent to the American Vice-Consul in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, franked 4c tied by "HARBOUR GRACE/AM/OC 9/30" c.d.s., and same alongside. On the reverse with London Foreign Section "LONDON/13 OC/30/F.S.71" c.d.s. The cover noted '(Personal) / Via "Columbia"' and signed by both aviators, Boyd and Conners. Likely on return at destination, the cover was taxed by blue 'T30' in m/s, later cancelled. A scarce and very unusual cover carried by the "Columbia".
