1859 (June 15): 1 d. blue, a used example with three good margins and just touched within the frameline at right, used on small piece tied by "ZAKYNTHOS" cds in blue with framed "FRANCA" handstamp alongside in same ink. 1859 (June 15): 1 d. blue, a used example in a deep shade with close even margins all round, just touched within frameline at lower right, on 1862 entire letter from Zakynthos to Stefano Ralli in Trieste cancelled by four manuscript ink lines in black with "ZAKYNTHOS" despatch cds (Aug 19) in blue at left. The 1 d. local charge paid for the letter to be delivered to the Lloyd steamer. Reverse with Triest arrival (Aug 22) in red. A very rare and most attractive entire. Cert. Simmermacher (2024).

1859 (June 15): 1 d. blue, a used corner marginal example in a deep shade from top right hand corner of the sheet, huge margins on two sides, imperceptibly grazed at top left, used on 1859 entire letter to Stefano Ralli in Trieste cancelled by small "CORFU" circular datestamp (June 19) in blue with information strike at right - just four days after the standard catalogues (Michel and Stanley Gibbons) give as the issue date - however this is now believed by specialists to have been perhaps as early as April 1859. The 1 d. local charge paid for the letter to be delivered to the Lloyd steamer. Reverse with Triest arrival (June 22) in red. A very rare and most attractive entire. Cert. Simmermacher (2024).

Greek Possession 1865: Large part entire letter from Arta to Corfu, disinfected with slits and charged on arrival with 1862/67 consecutive 10 l. deep orange on very blued paper, two examples with close to large margins, neatly tied by "Kerkyra / 106" cds's (Nov 18) in black. An attractive cover.

1867/74: Austrian Levant 10 s. blue used on 1875 entire letter to Jannina, Epirus tied by "ALEXANDRIEN" thimble datestamp (Sept 26) in black, reverse with scarce Austrian Consular P.O. "CORFÙ" cds of transit (Oct 19) in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 463). The cover opens well for Exhibit display.

Greek Possession 1861/85: Corfu - Mail to and from Corfu, covers (10) franked by Large Hermes Heads, with 1861 incoming cover from Patras with Paris print 10 l. and 40 l. tied by "9" numerals, 1868 cover from Brindisi pair at 65 lepta rate tied by "Kerkyra / 106" datestamps, 1870 cover from Trieste at 70 lepta rate with 10 l. , 20 l., and 40 l. tied by "Kerkyra" cds's; 1870 cover from Livorno franked by Italy 1867 20 c. blue taxed on arrival with 5 l. and 40 l. in Corfu; 1870 unpaid cover from London with four colour 115 lepta franking on arrival, 1871 cover to Gallipoli with 65 lepta rate with 5 l., 20 l. and 40 l. tied by "106" numerals and 1873 similar cover incoming to Corfu from Livorno; 1873 entire to Marseille with 20 l., 20 l. and 40 l tied "Kerkyra" cds's; 1877 cover with Athens 30 l. brown to Trieste, 1885 25 lepta rate to Venice. Generally fair to very fine, a most attractive group.

Austrian Post Office in Corfu 1863: Arms 15 soldi brown, perf. 14, a defective used example on 1864 cover to Alexandria, Egypt endorsed "Franca" in manuscript,tied by small "CORFU" circular datestamp (Nov 10) in blue with two further strikes at right, alongside "1" in red crayon manuscript for local fee. Reverse with "15" kreuzer noted in manuscript alongside Austrian P.O. ALEXANDRIEN arrival cds (Nov 26g). Faults but unique usage. Cert. Simmermacher (2014).

British Protectorate 1815-1864 1828/94: Zante / Zakynthos, group of covers/entires (12 and a document) with 1828 Police document with handstamps, 1824 entire endorsed "Da Costantinopoli" with "ISOLA DI ZANTE" in red and "ISOLE / IONIE" arrival in blue; 1835 disinfected entires (2) to Zante from Syra or Patras each struck with circular "ISOLA DI ZANTE" in black on arrival; 1853 entire with hooded "Zante" in blue and oval rate marking to Corfu; 1854 cover to Trieste with hooded "Zakynthos" datestamp in blue etc. A most interesting grroup.

Greek Possession 1868/80: Greece 1868 10 l. orange on blued (late usage) with 1875 20 l. ultramarine on cream, roughly separated and with slight ageing, used on 1879 cover to Venice, each neatly tied by "PAXOS / 107" cds's in black (Sept 3j) with small cartridge "PIROSCAFI / POSTALI / ITALIANI" alongside in black. Reverse with Brindisi cds and Venezia arrival cds (Sept 18) in black.

1862/67: Consecutive 80 l. carmine on rose, a top marginal example, 1872 superb 10 l. orange on greenish and 40 l. deep lilac on blued, used on incoming 1874 unpaid double rate cover from Messina (March 23) to Corfu endorsed "via Brindisi" with corresponding '130' marking in blue crayon below, all tied by Kerkyra "106" lozenge of dots in black. A scarce and most attractive cover (Hellas 22b+40a+42/IId).
