Lot 4046A - grossbritannien ganzsachen - Corinphila Auction AG Auction 333-341 Western Australia & Great Britain - Day 31886: 2 d. blue postal stationery envelope, used registered and uprated with 1884 1½ d. lilac and horizontal pair of 1887 ½ d. vermilion, sent from Wimbledon, London to Ghent, Belgium, dated 13 August 1887, cancelled by a registered 'W.C.D.O.' cds in black. To the reverse an arrival cds in black (14 August 1887) and a stamp dealer label 'Fred Jas. Rolt, Durham Rd, Cottenham Park, Wimbledon'. A scarce mixed franking; the 1½ d. lilac is rare in combination with non-contemporary stamps; only two example are recorded, both of which occur on stamp dealer mail. Comes with another registered cover franked with 1887 2 d. grey-green & scarlet (SG 200) and the 1884 2½ d. lilac (SG 190) sent from London to Amsterdam, dated 19 July 1897. A scarce cover being one of four recorded examples of the 2½ d. in combination with non-contemporary adhesives.
