Constantinople forerunner - registered covers via Odessa (Russia): 1872, 5 Groschen ochre-brown with clear "KAISERL. DEUTSCH. P.A. CONSTANTINOPEL 7.5.74" on registered envelope up to 15 g with routing mark "via Odessa" and handstamp "Recomandirt" to Leipzig with reverse arrival datestamp. The stamp (postage stamp) is fresh colours, well embossed, with demand perforation and in faultless condition, the envelope with the usual traces of transport and opening in good overall condition. So far only a few registered covers from Constantinople are known, to the German Empire so far unique single franking with routing via Odessa and great breast plate and forerunner scarcity, certificate Jäschke-L. BPP (2009). Mail from Constantinople could only be forwarded via Odessa (Russia) from 1 November 1873. For the letter of the 1st weight category 5 groschen were due (3 groschen letter fee and 2 groschen registered covers fee)

The fresh colours of the stamps are very well embossed, well perforated and in perfect condition, a not frequent, attractive and rate-appropriate postage paid according to the rate valid for only 6 months until 30.6.1872

2 stamps (postage stamp) with cancellation "CONSTANTINOPEL 1* 3 2 94" as (official?) return franking on parcel card with four pieces crown/eagle 50 Pfg, from "HANNOVER 12.1.94" to Constantinople. Here acceptance was refused and returned with the note "The parcel has come from the hands of the postal and tax administration". Reverse arrival datestamp of Constantinople as well as transit and tax cds. of Dresden. Usual slightly traces of transport. An unusual piece.
