1897/98: 10 s. deep violet, three unused horizontal pairs, each corner marginal from the upper right corner of the sheet, with sheet requisition numbers 220, 234 and 274, fresh colours and very fine but for typical wrinkles on large part or unmounted og. A scarce assembly with only 5'500 stamps (275 sheets) printed. A charming group Gi = £ 1'080+.

1894: Waterlow Colour Trials (6), Imperforate set of six in unissued colours with ½ d. in dull  grey-blue, 1 d. in purple, 2 d. in brown, 2½ d. in vermilion, 5 d. in lake-red and 1 s. in deep green; the ½ d. and 1 d. with some age spots otherwise a fresh and very fine set. Niger Company Territories / Lokoja 1900: Great Britain 1887 Jubilee ½ d. vermilion, six examples used on 1900 registered double rate cover front to London, tied by three strikes of oval "LOKOJA / POST OFFICE" despatch (Sacher Type 13, SG Type 8) in violet (March 15); with London registered arrival below (April 17) in red. A rare late usage of British stamps in the Niger Company Territories with the latest date recorded being April 2, 1900. File fold at left but a most attractive franking.rnProvenance: Collection W.H. 1899 (Dec 11): De La Rue Essay for proposed ½ d. value utilising imperforate Key-Plate design in dull green with hand-painted "SOUTHERN NIGERIA" in green on Chinese white background and Duty Plate "½d." picked out in Chinese white on emerald green background, on Appendix Sheet dated "Dec 11.99, Southern Nigeria" at top in manuscript. Unadopted, illustrated in the "De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP on page 6066. A delightful and unique Essay.

Bonny River Provisional Bisects 1894 (Jan 1): 2 d. green diagonally bisected and 1 d. pale blue diagonally bisected, used in combination with July 1892 2 d. grey-green and carmine and 1894 1 d. dull blue on 1894 registered cover to Luton tied by "Bonny" squared circle datestamps (Sept 11) in black. "R" handstamp at left and oval 'Registered / Liverpool' transit (Oct 25) on obverse and Luton arrival on reverse. Philatelic but correctly rated and a most attractive cover Gi = £ 900+.

1894 (Aug 10): Provisional ½ d. on 2½ d. blue, a used example on registered 1894 cover additionally franked by two 2 d. lake, all neatly cancelled by "Old Calabar" squared circle datestamp (Aug 16) in black. Liverpool (Sept 17) and London datestamps of transit and receipt also on obverse. Correctly rated, a fine usage of this scarce provisional in the first week of issue.

Niger Company Territories / Akassa 1890: Great Britain 1887 Jubilee 6 d. deep purple on red, a single example used on 1890 cover to Southport, struck with fine oval "THE NIGER TERRITORIES / POST OFFICE / AKASSA" despatch (Sacher Type 2, SG Type 1) in violet (Sept 29); the adhesive tied on arrival by Liverpool "466" oblöiterator with "PAID / LIVERPOOL / BR. PACKET" datestamp (Nov 2) alongside in red. Reverse with Southport arrival cds in black of the following day. The envelope with minor nick away from the adhesive but a very scarce and most attractive cover.rnProvenance: Collection John Sacher, Spink, London, 12 Nov 2009, lot 359.

1904 (April): £ 25 green & carmine, wmk. Multiple Crown CA, an unused example of beautiful fresh colour and centering, superb large part og. Issued for the prepayment of liquor licences, however inscribed 'Postage & Revenue' and therefore technically valid for same.
