Sydney Harbour Bridge 1932: Sydney Harbour Bridge 2 d. scarlet, the Postal Forgery, no wmk., perf. 11, a fine unused example, minor wrinkle on large part og. but fine and rare Gi = £ 1'000 / BW 149c = $ 2'750.rnrnNote: The Postal Forgeries of the Sideface issue were used in Sydney in March and April 1932 for mailing forged Irish Sweepstakes tickets. A recipient, a Dr. E. C. Black, noticed the differences and asked the Post Office if this was a new issue. The perpetrator, Charles Jackson and the engraver, Henry Elderfield, were eventually jailed after sending Dr. Black his forged tickets on an envelope franked by the forged Sydney Harbour Bridge 2 d. adhesive. Many of the examples of this excellent forgery found by the Police were defaced.
