KG Sale #49 Collections Overseas, Thematics, Europe, Germany/Estates Albanien - Ganzsachen: 1923-1945 THE UPU SAMPLES COLLECTION OF ALBANIAN POSTAL STATIONERIES FORMERLY 1923-1945 THE UPU SAMPLES COLLECTION OF ALBANIAN POSTAL STATIONERIES FORMERLY PART OF A FAMOUS SCANDINAVIAN POSTAL MUSEUM. It shows all the Albanian postal stationeries that the Scandinavian postal administration received from the UPU. A number show in pencil the year of receipt and an archival number. The collection was stored in the archives of the postal museum. It contains in total 45 different items all in outstanding very fresh condition (they have never been in collectors hands). This collection is particularly interesting in order to show which Albanian postal stationeries were distributed by the UPU to its member states, at which date and from which printing (maybe some special printings for the UPU are to be discovered). The manuscript notes on a number of the postal stationeries demonstrates their UPU specimen status. It includes an amazing selection of rare items from the ITALIAN OCCUPATION PERIOD 1939-1943, 17 in total including the three RARE illustrated paid reply postal stationery cards Q5, Q10, Q15 (see Filigrano catalogue interi postali Italia: occupazione Italiana) and one letter card from the 1943 GERMAN OCCUPATION. Very interesting is also a large illustrated envelope issued by the Albanian Post in 1945 and sold for "FR.SHQ.3" which shows a special postal cachet "DITA USHTRISË NACIONAL CLIRIMTARE SHQIPTARE / 10 KORRIK 1943-1945 / POSTA SHQIPTARE" (10 juli 1945 national day of the liberation army). This postal envelope was obviously received from the UPU and shows a 1947 receipt date. To our knowledge it is the first time ever that such a UPU postal stationery collection has been offered.
