Besieged Ben Shemen25  DEC 47 courier cv (w/contents in Hebrew dated 22 DEC 47 ) from a girl in Ben Shemen “children’s group A” addressed to her father in Haifa posted by the courier in TLV, 10m Palestine stp (#97) tied by wavy line pmk TEL AVIV 25 DEC 47. In the letter she is writing: ”…you probably heard about the incident near Beit Nabala and about the 14  young men that were killed in the convoy that brought supplies to Ben Shemen….yesterday a convoy reached Ben Shemen with supplies and all was good as the convoy was escorted by British armored cars, and I received a letter from mom”, she is also depicting the happiness and joy on 29 of November after the UN declaration of the establishment of the Jewish State. The village (near Lydda) was under siege as of 29 November 47 & was serviced by convoys escorted by the British Army, the Siege was lifted on 10.7.1948.
