TEN PENCE' in Black on 9d yellow Printed on Both Sides SG 59a, untidy 'GPO/JA5/70/ADELAIDE' cds, Cat £950. Rare & underrated. BPA Certificate (1981). [Superior to Harry Lower's example - perfs at top slightly trimmed - that sold for $1322]

The truly remarkable aspect of this stamp is that, the surcharge being on the front only, the reverse is a 9d yellow which, of course, was never issued.

1/- brown SG 60-61 group, exceptional centring, large-part o.g., Cat £375. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2012) states the shade is "lake-brown". Michael Blake annotated it as "chestnut". We think it's more "chestnut" than "lake" but it really highlights how woeful the Gibbons descriptors are for the 1/- brown issues.
