Status International - Sale 344 - August 16th, 2018.

 

Auction 344 has 3,921 lots, catering for all types of collectors & dealers - from bulk accumulations and intact collections to desirable single items. This auction offers a huge range of material, with special emphasis on lotting stamps to cater for collectors with varying types of interests and budgets. Items range from $30 to $80,000 so there's something for everybody. This auction offers strong representation of Australia & Colonies, strong British Empire material of all areas & periods, as well as General Foreign including small and large collections. There are nearly 300 lots of Australian Collections (Lots 121-364) and almost 400 lots of World collections (Lots 365-756).

Following on there almost 900 lots of Australia which consist of singles, sets and covers including Australian colonies (Lots 782-1711). The Australian lots cover all periods, from the Kangaroo issues up to Decimal and contains numerous number of mint & used £1 & £2 top values - this includes a First Watermark £1 Brown & blue Perf large OS. Stamp VF MUH with never hinged original gum, with tiny area (1x3mm) of gum loss at base where spot was removed, cnr marginal & nice colours. SG O14 cat £10,000 for M, and this period should be triple, £30,000 MUH. ACSC 51Bb cat $15,000 for M OS & normal cats x4 MUH, so would be $60,000 MUH! Perf OS examples of the £1 are exceedingly rare & we have only offerred 1 in last 15 years, while the large majority offerred for sale elsewhere have been very doubtful. This is only the 2nd genuine perf OS example in MUH condition known to us. Provenance is the left stamp from the pair ex Arthur Grey auction 2007. Important Officials rarity.(Lot 837). There are almost 1,800 lots of World stamps, covers and single country collections (Lots 1782-3601) with the British Empire well represented, highlighted by a Malaya States FMS:1900 opt Elephants $25 green & orange top value. VF fresh M, nice original gum & beautiful colours. SG 14 cat £16,000+. Major rarity & the key of all the Malayan States Elephant issues. Exp Bolaffi & Alberto Diena(Lot 2808).
