This 31 May is probably the last usage of Customs Shanghai cds, two days before the Dollar chop was first recorded used...

Extremely rare incidence of Chinese cds cancelling foreign stamp which might aim at stopping pilliferage therefore fore-runner to the IPO tie-print.

Kiungchow,. 1897. Kiungchow (19 Nov) to Germany. “Cash cover” bearing Hong Kong QV 10c stamp, unusually cancelled by Kiungchow pakua killer, and Kiungchow dollar chop alongside. Transit Hong Kong (22 Nov) to arrive Dresden (24 Dec). The use of the pakua to cancel Hong Kong stamp is probably unique, and is a forerunner to the IPO tie-print.
