PART OF GREECE: The well known register cover (philotelia vol. 520/1986 p.243) posted from "ΖΑΚΥΝΘΟΣ (111)*11 ΙΑΝ. 65" (blue canc.) with blue oval "ΔΠ" with 2d. postage indicated between, arr. "ΚΕΦΑΛΛΗΝΙΑ (110)*13 ΙΑΝ. 65. 1d. collected fee on reverse also marked. The combined use of these pmks is, so far, unique. This cover establishes the fact that Zante Post office personel hasted in using the Greek Postal service pmk (official introduction was 15 Jan. 1865) and is the earliest example of premature use of the Greek Postal service in Zante.
