1881-1903, Extraordinary exhibition standard collection housed in 2 albums, concentrating solely on classic period issues with mint, used, blocks, postal history, etc., well over 2'000 stamps, with highlights including 1881 first issues on European paper with many different shades on both pin-perf and imperf issues, unused and used, the first double-sided page alone with well in excess of $22,000 catalogue in Scott (ie. for the most basic types). There are also very scarce first issue covers incl. 1a ultramarine pair on cover, 1a ultramarine single on cover and rare 4a green imperf on cover, the latter two with Hellrigl certificates. Then the 1886 early printings on local paper including lots of tête-bêche pairs to 4a green unused and used. The 1898-1907 printings have dozens more tête-bêche pairs to 4a green unused and used, the 2c grey violet upper left corner block of 9 unused with 2 inverted clichés, many full sheets of the later issues inc. 1917 2a claret used sheets in two different shades with x5 and x9 inverted clichés respectively, as well as magnificent 4a green sheets with x2 used and x2 unused, the latter of settings 7 and 12 in distinct shades and both showing the 1a cliché error at position 8 (Scott #17b) as well as the inverted 4a clichés at positions 54 and 56. This scarce error of colour appears again with a study of shades on single examples, followed by the 1899 bow and khukris also presented in great depth incl. complete sheets showing different plate settings of the 1/2a black and eleven genuine used examples of the 1/2a vermilion. In the second album the collection continues strongly through the 1898-1917 and later printings. Noted pin perf 2a claret and 2a brown with several used tête-bêche pairs which Scott quotes value unknown (#20a, 21a), etc, etc. Also seen interesting collateral with early revenues incl. over two dozen different court fees in black, orange, red, green and blue, as well as oversize classic period revenues with double-bordered design in green and blue, even a 6-page Gurkha War camp letter of 14th November 1814, etc.

A very exciting collection of major importance.
