1856/1872: Collection of classics, an old 1960s auction lot, housing a few hundred stamps mint and used almost all imperfs, inc. 50+ early Hidalgo imperfs to high values inc. unusual o/ps ‘..del Carmen’ in blue alongside black Campeche on 1r yellow, 1856 4r red x3, 1861 4r black on yellow x3, 8r black on red x3, 8r green on red, 1864 2r blue with district name scarce used, lots of eagles ½r to 8r, Maximilians inc. engraved 7cts lilac mint, 1868 and 1872 Hidalgos strong with lots of 100cts, etc. Discoveries highly likely in this original collection, especially postmark potential, much more here than first meets the eye.
