1861-64 Watermark Star Issue, Clean cut and Intermediate perf 14 to 151/2,
4d. dull rose (not to be confused with the more common rose-red of a later printing), unused without original gum, fine and fresh. The perforated 4 pence in the dull rose shade are from same printing as the famous and expensive imperforated 4d, therefore they have the same shade. Many of these perforated 4d dull rose were manipulated by trimming of the perforation to simulate the more expensive imperforated 4d. These perforated 4d are scarcer than the imperforated. According to the book of the Kimmel collection ONLY 13-20 UNUSED EXAMPLES ARE KNOWN. The famous Hackmey collection included only one example without gum and one with large parts of perforations clipped. A VERY UNDERPRICED STAMP. S.G. 21, £2250.
