lot # 50190LA - Militaria > 1948 era militaria
War of Independence "Occupied Zone in South J'lem" [military] pass: numbered pass made out "To the Military Governor | Occupied Zone in South J'lem" dated 17-6-48 (c. week after siege on the city), requesting passage for a certain soldier to leave the zone on the 21st until 430pm that day; stamped by oval cachet of "Battalion A | South Region" w/officer's signature; "unit" appears to be "Gadna", which during the battle for J'lem was the largest source of combat manpower in the city; among its many duties, establishing checkpoints. Here, probably the Katamon or Talpiot area. The MG at this time was Dov Yosef.
