Great Britain, 1840, Queen Victoria 1st Issue, 2d blue (Scott 2), plate 1, OJ, cut irregularly leaving three huge margins including a good bit of adjacent stamp at right, but cut in at left; canceled neat black Maltese Cross (barely tied) on cover to Kendal; somewhat confusing postmarks on reverse are "KENDAL, JA23, 1841" cds, and "LS/ 22MR22/ 1841" Maltese Cross, Fine to Very Fine.

An exceptional example of this scarce "long" pound; catalog values reflect a 50% premium, by both Scott & Gibbons, for a neatly canceled, well centered stamp.
