Maltese Showcase of Culture Through Stamps

As a way to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage, the Malta’s government through MaltaPost has decided to issue a set of postage stamps that will showcase a glimpse of its culture. The three postage stamps focus on the Regatta, Festa and the traditional procession every Sunday. The philatelic issues depict the religious heritage and other celebrations that are popular in the country. Each valued stamp features an image and subject based on its rich heritage, including the €1.16 stamp showing a procession with Risen Christ during Easter, €0.59 postage stamp that takes a snapshot of the Regatta, an annual event hosted every March 31 and September 8 and the €0.26 postage stamp, showing the festivity of St George. Also, the postage stamp that shows off a snapshot of the boat races will also feature the official logo of SEPAC, thus will also form part of SEPAC’s collection of postage stamps.

On Culture and SEPACs’ Efforts to Showcase the Region’s Best Through Stamps

Malta isn’t the only country with postage stamps that will be showcased in the SEPAC collection of postage stamps. Other SEPAC members are expected to participate in the initiative including Gibraltar Philatelic, Aland Post, Iceland Post, Monaco Post, San Marino Post to name just a few. In the collection of postage stamps from Malta, Daniel Cilia was tasked to capture the festivities and celebrations. The images were then used in stamps that were printed in sheets of ten. Each Maltese stamp incorporates the Maltese Cross, and each postage stamp measuring 44 mm by 31 mm. the collection was printed by Printex Limited, and the issue of more than 2 million postage stamps include postage stamps in different denominations including €1.16, €0.59 and €0.26 postage stamps.

The collection was officially released last June 16, and can be ordered by mail or can be directly ordered in the post offices of Gozo and Malta.
