Trinidad: 1847 ‘Lady McLeod’ (5c.) blue, heavily repaired but a presentable example, very rare. The earliest stamp used in any British colony. This privately-issued stamp was produced in April 1847, six months before the Post Office Mauritius, to prepay the private conveyance of mails on the Lady Mcleod between Port of Spain and San Fernando.
