This catalogue contains a great selection of Australian coins including Australian Shipwrecks, Proclamation coins, Dump and Adelaide Assay Office Coins, Gold Sovereigns and Half-Sovereigns, pre-decimal coins and Proofs, RAM , Perth Mint and NPA products. There are many highlights in the Australian Coins including Two Australian 1930 Pennies. Both are graded in gF/VF and are Reserved at $17,500 (Lots 6495 and 6496). This auction also includes a 1921 Indian Die - Proof or Specimen strike 1d. Glossy chocolate brown with peripheral orange colour in the lettering. A couple of very tiny contact marks on the obverse. Very well struck , sm surface fault near O of ONE from removal of a spot? Lovely coin. McD Cat $88,000. Extremely Rare Reserve $10,000 (Lot 5735). In the Australian Banknotes section, include Pre-Federation, Pre-decimal, decimal, Starnotes, Varieties Including a range of rare Misprints. This sale includes a rare £10 Cerutty-Collins £10 Cerutty-Collins 701001W with Green/Purple/ Green reverse. R.52c. Also in the Australian Pre-federation bank issues a Bank of South Australia £1 Melbourne 1 July 1889 SPECIMEN without serials, opt SPECIMEN in red in sig panel & diagonally across front. World coins and banknotes, including Gold, silver and copper coins, medals and World Banknotes. In the World Coins is a Russian 1763 Catherine II Ducat. Crowned bust right, rev crown above double-headed eagle, shield on breast. C-80. EF. Extremely Rare. Reserve $15,000 (Lot 6557). Also in the world banknote section is a South Africa Boer War - Siege of Mafeking. 1 Shillings January 1900, "Issued by the Authority of Colonel R.S.S. Baden-Powell", with embossed "Bechuanaland Protectorate / One Penny" embossed duty stamp, with numbered counterfoil at left, showing it came from a special booklet (most of these notes were issued in stapled pads without any counterfoil). Superb fresh UNC in absolutely pristine condition. P-S651a cat US$1500++ plus large premium for the intact counterfoil. This originates from a partial booklet ex John Ineson collection, and previously no examples with intact counterfoils were recorded. In any case any Mafeking notes extremely rare in such high grade - the previous example we had from same source sold for $2800 + commission in our auction 328. 2016 Ceremuga certificate of authenticity.
