Public Auction #179 - General Auction

Prestige Philately is starting 2013 with a BANG!!  On Friday 22nd February, we are conducting not one but TWO public auctions.

GENERAL AUCTION: Australian highlights are a number Kangaroo KGV and KGVI rarities; the best collection formed of commercial covers with 1956 Olympics postmarks; Monica Comrie’s World War II Northern Territory; and a few sensational postal stationery items.

New South Wales is particularly strong with a range of superb Classics formerly in Mark Dankin’s “Carrington” collection, and the best pre-stamp offering we have presented since our sale of Brian Peace’s collection in July 2009.  There are some fascinating historical letters included.

All other Colonies have select items available: stamps, proofs, covers, and postmarks.

This sale also features wonderful material from Christmas Island (Indian Ocean) and Cocos Islands from an American vendor.  This is the best such offering since we sold Kim Dwyer’s Cocos in June 2006.

Pacific Islands have not been neglected, and nor have our bidders seeking collections: you will fine many opportunity lots under the various country headings etc.
