88th Holyland Postal Bid Sale
By: Negev Holyland
Negev Holyland 88th Holyland Postal Bid Sale
Welcome to the Eighty-eight NEGEV HOLYLAND AUCTION.
There are two sections in this sale. The first section has the usual fine offering of material. The second section contains the material from a life-long collector who is starting to sell his holdings. There is some very nice Mandate and Interim material.
I have been using MICROSOFT WINDOWS 7. For auction tracking (and much personal work) I use MS WORKS Database and Spreadsheets. I had to get a new laptop. It did not come with WINDOWS 7, but WINDOWS 10. Sooner or later, I will need to upgrade mu DESKTOP to WINDOWS 10 as well. Unfortunately, it does not support MS WORKS.
As such, I had to start converting the databases to MS ACCESS and the spreadsheets to EXCEL. To do so, I had to hire an expert in MS ACCESS. This was a huge project. The CLIENT DATA BASE is now on MS ACCESS.
Nearly 18 years’ worth of BID BOOKS are in MS WORKS Databases. These will be converted to MS ACCESS. The auction summaries and invoices are in MS WORKS spreadsheets. The summaries will be converted to MS EXCEL. The invoices will NOT be converted. If you need any data from a past auction, I still should be able to get it. The catalogues themselves will remain in MS WORKS.
After 40 years of designing and programming mainframe systems, I know that no matter how well it was designed, coded, and tested, problems will arise when a new system is implemented. SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME. Thank you.
This time, please be very patient with me when you call in your bids and ask for the current status of a lot. Also please allow me extra time to get the lots mailed. There will be a new format for your invoice.
One more favor, please. When sending your bids by e-mail or the web site, please include your full name, address, and a phone-number. Thanks.
REPEATING MY OFFER Due to the ever increasing postage costs, I am trying to switch as many clients as possible to E-MAIL ONLY. A typical catalogue cost about $6 to mail to non-USA and non-Canadian addresses. If you are on E-MAIL only, I will send you an e-mail when the WEB SITE is up. Please advise if I can switch you to E-MAIL ONLY. If your total purchases are over $200, I will give you a $5 credit – but please remind me each time. Thank you.
I will have a booth at two shows:
BALPEX: http://www.balpex.org/balpex.html (This is a shared table with the Israel Philatelic Agency of North America.)
NOJEX: http://www.nojex.org
WEB SITE: NEGEV.STAMPCIRCUIT.COM
CLOSING DATE: SUNDAY AUGUST 13, 2017; 2 PM LOCAL TIME
