Sale 74 Hong Kong & Treaty Ports
By: Interasia Auctions Limited
Interasia Auctions Limited Sale 74 Hong Kong & Treaty Ports
The over 500-lot sale of Hong Kong and Treaty Ports and Macau features an outstanding Macau collection in addition to Interasia’s customary strong and varied offering of Hong Kong and Treaty Ports. The Hong Kong stamps feature a very fine mint 96c. olive-bistre, as well as the 1891 Jubilee double overprint (ex Rose-Hutchinson) and rare modern QEII varieties. One of the finest known Shanghai “Sunburst” covers (ex Ishikawa and Richard Chan) highlights the substantial Hong Kong and Treaty Ports postal history offering that again includes a section of rare Shanghai postal history. An outstanding collection of Macau (140 lots) concludes the auction and includes the 1913 Don Carlos I local “Republica” overprint rare 8a. in a complete sheet and the 10a., considered the rarest stamp of Macau, in a marginal strip of three, as well as modern rarities, including the 1955 unissued Fourth Centenary of the Portuguese Establishment in Macau set of four and the 1981 Portugal-inscribed Camoes set in marginal blocks of four.
Interasia’s December 10 -12 Auctions
Interasia’s December 10-12 auctions of China, Hong Kong and Asian stamps and postal history will take place at the Excelsior Hotel in Causeway Bay in Hong Kong. The three-day, 2,300-lot sale includes another outstanding offering of China and Hong Kong stamps and postal history, with important Ching Dynasty and Republic, substantial postal history, Taiwan, Tibet, and a large offering of People’s Republic and Liberated Areas. Hong Kong and Treaty Ports alone comprise almost 400 lots, while an outstanding Macau collection is presented in an additional 140 lots.
The auctions feature the two iconic stamps of China and Hong Kong - the 1897 Red Revenue Small One Dollar and the mint 96c. Olive-Bistre, as well as one of the greatest PRC rarities - the 1968 unissued large format “Whole Country is Red.”
