This concluding auction of the magnificent Olsson Collection of Large Dragons of China includes important proofs and essays, highlighted by the imperforate proof sheet of the 3 candarins from Setting III (one of two recorded), outstanding stamps including the 1885 thick paper 1ca. vertical imperforate between pair unused (one of five recorded with intact perforations), as well as six covers including the 1884 combination cover originating in the Ichang Customs and sent overseas through the U.S. Postal Agency at Shanghai.
Interasia’s December 10 -12 Auctions
Interasia’s December 10-12 auctions of China, Hong Kong and Asian stamps and postal history will take place at the Excelsior Hotel in Causeway Bay in Hong Kong. The three-day, 2,300-lot sale includes another outstanding offering of China and Hong Kong stamps and postal history, with important Ching Dynasty and Republic, substantial postal history, Taiwan, Tibet, and a large offering of People’s Republic and Liberated Areas. Hong Kong and Treaty Ports alone comprise almost 400 lots, while an outstanding Macau collection is presented in an additional 140 lots.
The auctions feature the two iconic stamps of China and Hong Kong - the 1897 Red Revenue Small One Dollar and the mint 96c. Olive-Bistre, as well as one of the greatest PRC rarities - the 1968 unissued large format “Whole Country is Red.”
