The three-day, 2,500-lot sale includes another outstanding offering of China and Hong Kong stamps and postal history, with important Ching Dynasty and Republic, substantial postal history, Taiwan, Tibet, and a large offering of People’s Republic and Liberated Areas. Completing Interasia’s “trifecta” is the earliest recorded cover bearing the stamps of Imperial China - the October 5, 1878 envelope from Peking to Shanghai bearing a Large Dragon 5 candarin pair and single - anticipated to realize the highest price ever for a Chinese cover (presale estimate US$900,000-1,150,000).
